Frequently asked questions
Short answers about how SoloBooks works. For UAE tax rules, see the help pages.
Does SoloBooks submit my tax return?
No. SoloBooks is software. You submit your own return on EmaraTax. SoloBooks gives you the figures from your approved entries and a step-by-step guide.
Is this tax advice?
No. Everything on this site and in the app is general information, not tax advice. Check the official Federal Tax Authority (FTA) and Ministry of Finance sources for your own situation.
What is Small Business Relief?
It lets a small UAE business pay no Corporate Tax for a tax year. It works if your business earned 3,000,000 AED or less in that tax year and in every earlier one. “Earned” means all money in, before costs and without VAT (even the sale of a business item counts). You choose it yourself when you file your return. It is open for tax years ending by 31 December 2029 (Ministerial Decision 131 of 2026). Free zone businesses using the free zone 0% rate and very large international groups cannot use it. You must still register, file a return and keep your records.
What happens after the free month?
You pick a plan. While payments are not open (beta), picking a plan keeps SoloBooks free for you. No card is asked at sign-up. If you do not pick one, your data stays readable and exportable; adding new documents pauses.
Which documents can I send?
Photos from your phone camera or gallery (resized automatically) and PDFs up to 1.5 MB, uploaded in the app or sent to our WhatsApp number once you link it in Settings. Photos and PDFs that contain text, like most e-invoices, are read automatically. For a scanned PDF, take a photo instead or type the details. Email forwarding is coming next.
Where is my data and can I delete it?
Files and entries are stored with Cloudflare, and documents are read by Cloudflare’s AI service. You can export everything and delete your account at any time from Settings. Details are in the privacy policy.
Does AI decide for me?
No. AI only suggests. Nothing counts in your totals until you approve it, and every change is logged.
Who is SoloBooks for?
Companies based in the UAE, including companies with a single shareholder, whose owner wants receipts in order and files the Corporate Tax return on EmaraTax. It is designed for small companies that can use Small Business Relief.
I work as a freelancer or sole establishment. Can I use SoloBooks?
You can keep your receipts and follow the VAT thresholds. The year-end summary and the filing guide follow a company’s tax year, so they fit companies best. Whether Corporate Tax applies to you is a tax question: see the help page.
How much does SoloBooks cost?
Clôture: 349 AED a year. Solo: 99 AED a month or 990 AED a year. Plus: 179 AED a month or 1,790 AED a year. All prices are in AED and include VAT. Every plan starts with 1 month free. Payments are not open yet: until they open, accounts that pick a plan keep using SoloBooks for free.
How many documents can I add?
Clôture: up to 60 documents a year. Solo: up to 40 a month. Plus: up to 120 a month. During the free month: up to 40.
How do I sign in?
Enter your email on the sign-in page and we send you a one-time link. There is no password. The link works once and expires in 30 minutes.
Which languages and devices does SoloBooks work on?
English, French and Arabic, in the browser on a phone or a computer. You can also add it to your iPhone or Android home screen and open it like an app.
What do I get at year-end?
From the Year-end page: a year-end summary you can print or save as a PDF, a CSV export of your entries, an evidence pack (a ZIP with your documents and a list of them) and a step-by-step guide to file your return yourself on EmaraTax.
Does SoloBooks follow my Small Business Relief and VAT thresholds?
Yes. The dashboard shows gauges of your approved entries against the 3,000,000 AED Small Business Relief limit and the 375,000 AED VAT registration threshold. They help you watch the figures; you decide what to do. The rules themselves are on the help pages.
Are the calculators free?
Yes. The Small Business Relief, deadline and VAT calculators need no account and run in your browser. The figures you type are not sent; only an anonymous usage count is recorded.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. You can ask for a full refund within 30 days of your first payment. Payments are not open yet, so nothing is charged today.
