Registration, deadlines and penalties

What happens if I file or pay late?

Often questioned by the tax authority: take care

In short: Corporate Tax: a fine of 500 AED a month for a late return in the first 12 months, then 1,000 AED a month, plus 14% a year (charged monthly) on tax not paid. VAT: 1,000 AED for a late return (2,000 AED if it happens again within 24 months) and 14% a year on VAT not paid. Act quickly: it limits the fines.

The basic rule

Fines start automatically the day after the deadline. Late payment fines are worked out each month at 14% a year on the amount still unpaid.
